Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit, humanitarian food-aid organization based in New Hope, Minnesota. It has been incorporated since 1999 and is not affiliated with a particular religious organization. The mission of Kids Against Hunger is simple: to feed hungry children and their families. Through a network of organizations, partnerships and hundreds of volunteers, Kids Against Hunger coordinates the packaging and delivery of nutritious meals to children around the globe. On September 8, members of First Lutheran will participate in a “packaging” event here in Maquoketa. One food package costs approximately 25 cents to prepare. The goal is to prepare 3,000 meals; therefore the group is seeking donations to raise $750 to purchase the ingredients and materials to produce the meals. Donations can be placed in the offering plate during worship or sent to the church office.
