First Lutheran is one of 8 Lutheran congregations in the Thrivent Builds affiliate that is sponsoring the Habitat for Humanity project in Maquoketa. The home at 306 S. Eliza Street was started on June 9 and is expected to be completed in October. Dozens of volunteers from First and other congregations, as well as the Genaw Family, have given up their weekends to work on the project. Their dedication shows! On Sunday, September 9 the Jackson County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will host a Fundraising Dinner at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew. Seats are available by reservation only, so get your tickets soon, as it promises to be a fabulous meal. All proceeds will benefit the build project. The dinner starts at 11 a.m. Contact Kelvin Sohl or Julie Yarolim to make your reservation.
